I chant the Introit as an "introduction" to the entrance hymn. It flows effortlessly. At communion, I either chant the antiphon as the priest receives, and then we sing a hymn; or (more regularly during Lent), I've been using the St. Meinrad Propers for Communion, which has a part for the a cantor and/or choir, as well as a simple refrain for the congregation, alternating with psalm verses. My congregation has picked up on these communion antiphons easily. We've been effectively able to implement the Propers without sacrificing hymns either. I'm happy to hear there are churches out there who are interested in restoring the Propers to their rightful place in the liturgy.Bradnoreply@blogger.com
