Fox,

I'm hearing from a few non-Catholic friends, in person and on FB, about the new Pope, particularly his statements on the treatment of homosexuals and income redistribution.

Hoping you will address these topics.

Does this represent a significant departure from traditional Church teaching?Shouting Thomashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09813058890609756982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14168956.post-40938954731493377232014-05-08T05:04:46.321-04:002014-05-08T05:04:46.321-04:00This has long been a sore spot with me. The Libra...This has long been a sore spot with me. The Library of Congress at one time had an exhibit on the Separation of Church and State and in it they more or less debunked the thinking the phrase was in the Constitution and had the document on display where the phrase actually came from showing it on the side of a scratched out letter to the Danbury Baptist Church that they had protection from government attacking the Baptist faith by establishing another religion as one government endorsed. The Sunday after writing this phrase, Jefferson attended church services being held in the actual Capital building where the House of Representatives met, hardly an act which would be viewed as violating this so called separation as viewed by the court later. Anyone who knows the history of the wars in England over the establishment of religion, Protestant or Catholic, would understand exactly what the now free Americans wanted when they put this Amendment first in the bill of rights along with freedom of speech and freedom of the press. The government could never infringe on the practice of faith in the USA by any denomination which is why you see about every type of religion openly free to practice in this country.

Of course we now have the Democratic Party so against God that they booed God at their last national convention. They seem to want to establish the government religion of atheism which would of course be against the bill of rights first amendment in actual wording. But what really got us to this point in our history was when the courts started to legislate from the bench starting in the late 40's with a ruling against prayer in school leading to their abortion ruling that has led to the slaughter of 55 million babies. They distort words that are written and invent words not written in the Constitution to force by the act of law what they cannot legislate from the congress. If you see a pro abortion judge, you see one who is also against God being anywhere near our country. Not surprising/ grampshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16795231771533653170noreply@blogger.com
