I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified -- St. Paul, I Corinthians 2:2

'Cough, cough!'
Christmas must be near, because I'm coming down with something. Ah well, it does not seem to be the nasty bug I had last year, but a rather routine cough and cold. Physically, I feel moderately good; but I have a sore throat and my voice is raspy. I just asked the vicar if he'd take 10:30 am Mass; my fear was my voice might fail, or I'd get into a coughing jag. But I'm sure, fortified with some "cocktail" of caffeine and off-the-shelf potions, I will be just fine for Christmas. I am not missing Midnight Mass two years in a row! But, I may not be singing much of the Mass, if so, too bad.
Improvise an Eastern chant. Then the low, growling raspy sound will seem perfectly in order.
ReplyDeleteInstead of coffee Father, try some hot lemonade with honey. Hope you are feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteBeware this time of year. I was diagnosed with a viral cold that soon became bronchitis. See a doctor so you don't get worse.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I will stop being a mom now and wish you a very blessed Christmas.
I have had VERY good luck with naproxyn (naprosyn, aleve) for cold prevention. Get some!
ReplyDeleteI learned of this in a pharmacy journal.
Father--
ReplyDeleteProvided it don't kill you or something, sing it anyway!
anything worth doing is worth doing badly.
Get better, and thanks for the ministry.
Hope you are feeling better soon Fr..God bless
ReplyDeleteFather, I wish you a speedy recovery, also a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
