This is what I have always done with my kids when they have head colds.
1. Drink plenty of water
2. Take eccenacea and zinc tablets
3. Have a mustard foot bath: For a mustard footbath, take 1 tsp. yellow powder mustard and one of household soda (if you have hard water) and put them in a deep basin with some water as hot as you can stand. Keep your feet and lower legs in for about ten minutes, topping the bath up with fresh hot (not boling) water. Dry off, put on thick socks and climb into a freshly warmed bed, the earlier the better.
4. Put some drops of eucalyptus oil on you pillow and on a handkerchief to assist breathing
5. Can some female relative come to look after you? I am a great believer in the power of TLC
Lots of rest, stay warm, drink copious amounts of water, and take vitamin C (doesn't get rid of the virus after all, but does alleviate symptoms. Look forward to better days ahead, don't touch or cough on others, and of course, OFFER IT UP, ha! Get well soon, Father. We're all rooting for you! Julia
As colds go, this one isn't (knocking on my head) too bad. I felt bad, when meeting with a couple this morning, having any number of sound effects while I was giving catechesis on what it means to call marriage a sacrament.
I realize the head's "plumbing" doesn't really work this way, but -- I'd like some sort of vacuum right now.
Oh -- and that drink lots of liquids thing. I do that, and I know why I do it. But it means I can't sit and enjoy the Notre Dame game for long stretches.
You keep it to yourself. Do all the common sense remedies that adults should know about. Perhaps offer it up for some good reason, but most of all ... don't blog about it.

Tim says: "Umm, gee, thanks for sharing. Come back anytime."
Hehehehehe!
Are you ready for this one Father?...
I worked for some Mexican bosses a few years ago. Just add some chopped Jalapeno's from the jar into some scrambled eggs in the morning. It always tastes best when you can fry up just a little bit of sausage and onion with it first.
Sinuses just go "pop" and everything breaks loose.
We won't talk about what it does to the stomach, but boy is it good when you get use to it.
I tasted the concoction on a dare. The next thing I knew, a month later I had a jar of Jalapenos in my fridge. I went from one tiny chopped ring to 3-4 chopped rings in 2 scrambled eggs!

Hot chicken soup delivered by your mother.
I agree with Tim. And, plenty of hot lemonade and rest. I hope you feel better soon Father.
