...Just a reminder--as if we needed one today--that we are at war, and we need to defeat this enemy.
May God bless those who foiled the plot to kill thousands; may God be with those who continue to fight the war, on all fronts. May God convert the hearts and save the souls of those who seek evil.
May Christ be our light, and in us, the Light to the world.

Absolutely, Father. The un-American evils of racial profiling and stereotyping against Muslims must cease absolutely.
Hey, victor:
What do ALL of the suspects arrested in connection with this latest plot to kill scores of innocent people all have in common? I'll give you a hint: it's not that they were 83-year-old grandmothers flying to visit their grandchildren.
If only we had succumbed to the "evils" of racial profile on the morning of September 11, 2001.
I'll give you another hint, Victor. Here are the suspects' names:
Umir Hussain, 24, London E14

...Still there, victor?
Father this is a great article:

This atricle has all the threats to us and restof the world and how some issues are ignored.
Mike M,
Here's another hint:
Go find a dictionary and look up the words "satire" and "sarcasm".
Another clue can be obtained by actually reading the link that Victor posted.
...Still there, victor?
I was there before you ... and making the exact same joke, actually. Great minds think alike, etc.
Actually, dry satire is in danger these days. What I wrote on my site (much less what I wrote here) actually IS being said with conviction and a straight face by all-too-many liberals ... (like here).
Sorry, victor. I didn't read the story you linked before posting, I had just assumed it was another story against racial profiling at airports -- I had already seen several crop up following the most recent terror plot. It blows my ind that there are people out there that are actually making this argument in today's world.
If this turns out to be another no-starter threat like the hapless Miami busts recently trumpeted, I will not be the least surprised.
What evidence do you have that the Miami busts were "no-starters" that were "trumpeted" beyond the objective threat.
I am aware that the ring was rounded up before they had done much, but isn't it at least defensibly "better safe than sorry" to round up an infiltrated group before they have a chance to get their plot too close to fruition.
Mark:
You're grossly overstating my point (or deliberately caricaturing it ... charity dictates the former "read"; for now).
The question is: when in the course of a conspiracy that authorities should arrest conspirators whose ring that they have penetrated? And it's very much a judgement call. Do we wait until they actually *acquire* explosives ("talk is cheap")?, until they send them to the target?, etc.
In general, the longer you wait, the more evidence you can pile up, on more serious counts, and possibly nab more people.
But OTOH, waiting also raises the risk of exposing or losing your contact, or the schedule being speeded up (either deliberately or by some hothead). And yes, "better safe than sorry" is the traditional argument for acting early in such situations.
That's a very serious and debatable matter -- a far cry from your sneers about internment camps, etc., which nobody has mentioned or advocated.
And besides ... that doesn't answer my solicit, which I will repeat. What is your basis for saying that the Miami arrests were no-starters, exaggerated or otherwise not legitimate?
As I read Fathers post and the comments several thoughts came to mind. First was the discussion of racial profiling. I think what you really want is religious profiling, but how many races would that include? Certainly Pakistani, Egyptian, Indian, Afganistani, Persian, many Africans, and a lot more that I can't think of right now. Is this really effective? Or is it wishful thinking? And given the fact that a number of people (like Ted Kennedy) have been placed on the no-fly list, I am not sure that I would believe that it would really help.
Anyother thought went through my mind concerning the "war on terror." More than one person has pointed out that the people we are fighting with were not, at least originally, associated with 9/11. Why haven't we managed to catch ben Ladin? I think that maybe too much of our resources are being put into fighting that really has little to do with the terrorists that we need to worry about.
