I like the color, could you do something about the other color scheme (title of posts etc maybe all white...) the mix of the colors is a bit hard to read, not epileptic fits hard but cross eyed hard...
OK ... so it was Professor Plum ... (Victor thinks) ... in the rectory, with the candlestick.
As long as the typeface is white, it's fine. And I vastly prefer this color to that pea soup we were wading in. But black typeface (your bio on the side is the only substantial chunk) is very hard to read against it.
When I see these creative pages you come up with, Father, it makes me wonder what you have done to redecorate the rectory. What colors and themes have you used? Just interested - ladies like home decor topics!
I have left the decoration of the rectory to others. A parishioner generously donated the labor of his employees to paint the interior; another couple, expert in interior decoration, recommended colors.
While I do confess to liking the idea of some bold colors, I let them talk me out of it, since they are the experts!
Probably in May, all the work being done on the rectory at St. Mary (the interior takes time and effort, but little cost; the exterior will be more costly), we'll have an Open House, and everyone in both parishes will see what it looks like. They'll be amazed at what a little paint and clean-up will do.
All these differingviewpoints about the color are making me think individual computers illustrate color differently. It is such a pretty red-violet on my monitor and the white lettering is quite vivid, not the least bit hard to read. But I am sure other people aren't making it up when they say it is for them. It just has to be the difference in computers or monitors. Annie
I like it, and find it easy to read. But, my monitor also shows the background as more of a maroon. I'm not sure that I would call it purple. (and I'm one who once painted two rooms with a light reddish purple with dark forest green accents)
Here's a comment you'll like: I set my text size one larger than default, then I don't complain. Somehow I make it work.
There are some very reputable blogs out there, that are so hard to read I wonder why people go through the pain, but they do, and in great numbers. I went through a number of color tests before I customized my own, which was a Blogger template, because I was tired of looking like four or five others out there. The result is quite stunning, if I say so myself. And I'm not even done yet.
Closer to home, a darker maroon may be easier on the eyes than the bright one you have now. Then again... see above.

Maybe it's my aging eyes or perhaps the laptop screen, but the background color looks to be red (maroon) rather than purple. Like the idea though....
I think it looks great!
Looks like a maroon on my screen. I like it, it reminds me of Texas A&M.
I would suggest a more violet rather than this. It looks more burgundy than purple, maybe its just my monitor
I like it a lot, actually. But it isn't really all that purple.

It's a more reddish purple, which supposedly is the color for Lent, as opposed to the more blueish purple, which is for Advent.
And the rule is, if it looks right on my computer, then . . .
Victor: the pea soup was the only green I came up with that wasn't violent on the eyes. I won't have to revisit that until the end of May...
I think it is clever. Keep it up.
Cranberry for Lent -- just to make the turkeys nervous.

Sorry, I am not fond of the color. It is too difficult for me to read. Perhaps something a little less red would be easier on the eyes.
The purple color is too dark. It's difficult to read the texts.
Whoa! I'm with Fr. Williams, your red violet is a tad dark.
I give you mad props for the attempt!
Oh and Paul if it's maroon it must be for the U of MN Gophers
It is hard to read, harder than the green, but maybe more of a border, like Rich's site?

links are impossible to see, but the background color is nice.
